How do you assess Dr. Peter Pryce’s ability to fulfil this role? I assess Dr. Pryce’s ability to fulfil the role of Director of Theology for the following reasons:

  1. He has confessed Christ as His Savior and Lord.
  2. He has been teaching as a Professor of French in an Institution of Higher Learning in the USA with credibility.
  3. I believe that he has the ability to articulate what the Church believes and the doctrines that the Body of Christ needs for edification.
  4. Dr. Pryce also has excellent knowledge of international affairs.
  5. Dr. Pryce possesses great faith, integrity, and dedication to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The good and effective Bible Teacher is the one who is able to do a quarter of what Jesus Christ taught. If that Teacher can even emulate Jesus Christ in just one fourth of what Jesus Christ did, he is an effective Bible Teacher. Since the LORD called me to do missionary work, I have seen the church grow more beyond my wildest dreams because of teaching the Bible.

We are not afraid to be criticized but when you criticize, use that Book called the Bible. In my six years of doing missionary work in Liberia, we have been teaching the Scriptures and as a result, we have seen successes of mergers and counting 25 congregations at this time in Liberia, 5 congregations in Sierra Leone, and an emerging Faith Mission Temple in South Africa. I recommend this book!

It was a great joy and privilege when Dr. Peter Pryce became a member of The Missionary Church International this year. We look forward to his leadership in helping The Missionary Church International grow God’s kingdom around the World.

Dr. Peter Pryce is the author of over 100 books that have strengthened the Christian community on the importance of God’s word in their lives. Dr. Pryce is a well-known apologist, translator, and conference speaker.

God has given Dr. Peter Pryce special insight into His Word. Dr. Pryce, through many years of studying God’s word, has produced this book, giving us a deep revelation of how to use God’s word in counseling people. His case studies give us tools to be an effective counselor for God.

I highly recommend this book as it will be an invaluable tool for those who are in Christian leadership, especially Pastors and those called by God to be counselors.

As a Biblical theologian, noted Professor, apologist, multi linguist and author of 100 books, Dr. Pryce lends his vast experience and expertise in bringing a Bible-centered overview to the process of Christian Counseling. Dr. Pryce focuses his presentation on the subject of Christian Counseling that is Bible-centered, as opposed to secular counseling, which does not focus on Biblical values.

He notes that such counseling is primarily for the Christian and not for the secular non-Christian for whom Biblical values have little impact. However, he makes allowance for those non-Christians, and even members of other religions, if it is sensed by the Counselor that they are perhaps being drawn to Christ:

John 6:44 (KJV) No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
For example; in some cases, an individual may be lost spiritually and yet sincerely seeking spiritual truth. Dr. Pryce notes that in such cases, the focus of counseling is to lead such a client to salvation, by explaining the Gospel and the atonement for sin by Jesus on the cross. As Christians, we understand that this occurs through understanding and trusting Christ for forgiveness of sin in accord with the free gift (Ephesians 2:8-10 (KJV)) by Grace through Faith in the Blood Covenant / Legal Transaction, represented by the shedding of innocent sinless Blood on the cross as payment for sin:

Ephesians 2:8 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:9 (KJV) Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:10 (KJV) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Romans 6:23 (KJV) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The greatest counsel is found in the power of the Gospel to change lives. Change comes to the believer through Faith in the Lord’s death, burial and resurrection resulting in the assurance of eternal life with Christ in Heaven. The goal of counseling is change: The scripture states in:

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

It is understood that the Holy Spirit is the Counselor and that Counseling Ministers/ practitioners are to be mature and sensitive to the still quiet voice of the Lord through His Spirit, especially when the Holy Spirit brings to memory appropriate scripture to be applied during counseling sessions.

In this exhaustive work, Dr. Pryce covers Christian Counseling’s history and record as well as objectives and guidelines for counselors as exemplified through Biblical case studies. It is my opinion that this work should be considered an invaluable addition to any Christian Minister’s library.

I am by this note writing to support the application of Dr. Peter Pryce for the 2019-2020 National Humanities Residential Fellowship award. I have known Dr. Pryce for about four years and hold him in high esteem as a teacher, scholar and author. I am aware of five books he has published over the years. Also, for the past several years, Dr. Pryce has taken up an adjunct teaching position in the Department of English and Modern Languages in my College, a role he has fulfilled with distinction.

This Fellowship will immensely benefit Dr. Pryce, who has indicated to me his desire to publish two new books. It is without hesitation that I write this note to highly recommend him for award.

I trust that by the grace of our Lord every plan was guided to complete success during your recent visit to MD. Thanks be to God!!!

Attached is your paper “ON THE POSITION OF THE QUR’AN”. You can see my editing in yellow. If you have any questions, we can discuss them via e-mail. Overall, I think it is a very good paper. Please include the references I have suggested and find a tier A (I do not know if your specialty ranks journals as we do in science and medicine) journal to publish it. That will start the serious and neglected conversation about the topic.

Many thanks for sending me your article [titled: On the Position of the Qur’an]. It is most interesting.

News from around the world reminds us daily that we live in a period of tension and violent conflicts. Countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas feel the brunt of these tension and conflicts. Some of these tension and conflicts are deeply rooted in misplaced religious fervour. In February this year {2015} for example, Ghana was confronted with a religious challenge, which sparked off a Muslim demonstration in Takoradi against what the demonstrators called discrimination against Muslim students in Christian and public schools in Ghana.

This sparked various reactions from government, Christian and Muslim communities, a situation that, if not handled carefully, could have had negative repercussions for the country. Such acts of violence and the behaviour of the perpetrators are attributable to suspicions, misunderstanding, and a warped understanding and application of scripture in some cases. To reduce these acts of violence, there should be serious commitment to dialogue of theological exchange to deepen understanding of differing religious heritage.

The identities of religious groups are formed from interpretation and understanding of scripture. Hence, accurate, adequate interpretation and understanding of scripture is a sine qua non to religious dialogue.

The Bible and the Quran are revered Scriptures. They constitute the foundation of Christian and Muslim beliefs and practices respectively. Any attempt to expound on these two revered books therefore is a major contribution to religious dialogue and peaceful coexistence. It is in this light that Dr. Peter Pryce’s book is invaluable. This book titled: Topics in Translation Review, covers three key issues. These are:

  1. Bible explanation as translation and interpretation.
  2. Jesus in the Bible and the Quran: to review the Quran’s interpretation of the “Son of God”, and
  3. Muslims in Heaven.

The themes are selected because of some differing and possibly erroneous interpretation attached to them by both Christians and Muslims. These often cause friction amongst adherents of these two religious traditions. With careful analysis of texts from the Bible and the Quran, Dr. Pryce, using the tools of biblical translation, examines relevant passages from the Bible and the Quran and draws reasoned conclusions that give common grounds for understanding.

He writes, “…we see that both the Quran and the Bible identify Jesus Christ as the Word of God. Both the Quran and the Bible identify…Jesus Christ, as the embodiment of the Word of God.” Again, he states in one of his conclusions that “Ishmael and his children will be saved. Therefore, those false Christians who claim that all Muslims will go to Hell have in fact exposed themselves as…presumptuous in attempting to decide who goes to Hell when in fact God gave them no such power to make that decision”.

Dr. Peter Pryce has the competence to undertake work of such nature. He is an academic with research experience in translation; and an individual with a sense of balance in religious matters. He has keen interest in the promotion of religious tolerance and maintenance of peaceful coexistence and he brings such background to bear on this work to enlighten Muslims and Christians. He handles the themes with clarity and thoroughness that satisfies the reader.

The content of the book is well thought out and written in a language that is easily understood. Students and scholars of both Islam and Christianity, as well as those interested in translation, and those who want to understand how scripture can foster religious tolerance and cooperation will benefit from this work.

“Doctor, it takes time for me to like something but when I read some chapters from your book, immediately I was very impressed about your explanation. It sounds very good…I am very impressed…most especially the way you took different interpretations from the Bible and the Qur’an and explained how Jesus Christ is the Spirit of God…and also the way you explained the position of Jesus Christ from the biological and spiritual point of view. Most especially this book with the Perfect Harmony Theory is going to be one of the most serious works in the world. It will be very well accepted and it will have a lot of attention.”
